To combat infections - IIT Ropar researchers develop UVGI-based room device

The state-of-the-art device has been conceptualised and designed by Dr Khushboo Rakha, Assistant Professor, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Dr Naresh Rakha, Senior Scientific Officer, with technical support from Dr Shahriar Reza, Design Consultant, IIT Ropar stated in a release on August 13th.

The team worked under the guidance and support of Dean, ICSR, Prof Harpreet Singh and Director, IIT Ropar, Prof Sarit K Das.

The state of the art design of the UV Safe ensures zero-shadow 360 degrees disinfection through its prismatic body and foldable wings, mentioned the release.

The specially designed wings provide focused exposure to the most frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, tabletops, cupboards, room fixtures, wall corners, worktops, artifacts, furniture tops, etc., it added.

The trapezoid base houses the control panel of the equipment. A removable handle and magnetic cover have been designed for comfortable storage and transit of the device. This unique and efficient design has been patented.
