No community transmission of COVID-19 in Manipur: Health authority

There is no community transmission of COVID-19 Manipur, according to a press release issued by Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of Health department.


Stating that the spread of COVID-19 is divided into stages of no case, sporadic cases, clustering of cases and community transmission, the release said on Friday, “There is evidence of local clustering of cases at Jiribam police station. There is no community transmission.”

Informing that efforts are made to look after the mental well being of the people affected by COVID 19,the release also said, state psychological support team has conducted 9227 counseling sessions and benefitted 7449 individual clients till now.

Meanwhile, with the 37 new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur has increased to 1316 while the total number of active cases is 678, it added.

In the last 24 hours, 37 persons (30 male,7 female) were confirmed as new COVID 19 positive cases from the Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratory (VRDL) of RIMS(37), Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of Health department said in press release.

They are from the districts of Jiribam (28), Thoubal (3) and Ukhrul (6).

All are returnees from other states.

They are being shifted to the COVID Care Facilities, it added.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours,22 persons were discharged from COVID care centres of Meitram (11), Chandel (2), Kasom Khullen (5), Ukhrul (1) and RIMS (3) after they were found COVID-19 free on a Real Time PCR test, it added.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1316.

The number of active and recovered cases is 678 and 638 respectively.

The recovery case is 48.48 percent.

As on Saturday, 53,608 were tested for COVID-19, another official source added.

Altogether 7,547 inmates were staying at quarantine centres including paid quarantine centres while 46,786 others completed quarantine.
